Miss Nealey is returning home to Saint Paul from Southern California where she has spent the last few months preparing children for the Sacraments and digging into Latin! She has worked at Saint Paul before as a substitute for Mrs. Savage, while she was on maternity leave, and for many of our other teachers. Her ministry in education began in 2011 when she received her Bachelor of Arts and California teaching credential from St. Mary’s College of California and began working as a middle school teacher. She has eight years of experience as an educator.
As she taught, she began to realize that something was missing. She put a pause on teaching to discern her (Big V) Vocation and entered with the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angels. After 3 ½ years of formation, she discerned that God was calling her back in to the world and to teach. It was then, in 2018, that she discovered Classical Catholic Education, what she had been missing all along. In the process she rediscovered the beauty of learning, awe and wonder in observing creation, the goodness in humanity, and a love for the Truth. She has been practicing and implementing Classical Education ever since.
A special connection that Miss Nealey has is that one of the schools she taught at was Holy Innocents in California. Holy Innocents is a Catholic Classical School also partnering with ICLE (Institute of Catholic Liberal Education) which Saint Paul is a member school.
