August 2019
Welcome to K-1!!
I am so excited to begin this year with your children.
The summer went by quickly and I hope it was a relaxing time for you and your family.
I will be adding information to our calendar over the next few days. This webpage will hopefully help keep you up-to-date with activities at St Paul during the year.
Tomorrow is our first day and it may be difficult for most of us to get a good night's sleep. I look forward to seeing all of you bright and early in the morning.
With blessings for a wonderful year!

February 2019
This is the shortest, yet busiest month of the year. It is filled with Groundhog's Day, Valentine's Day, 2 presidents' birthdays, Black History, heart health and dental health.Wow.
The children are doing a wonrderful job on homework and IXL. This will pay benefits as they get closer to 1st grade.
Next month, we will be planning and preparing for our 1st mass. This is an exciting time for the class and we look forward to seeing you all there.
Enjoy this quick month. It's full of learning and fun!
Blessings,
Karen Pirzadeh
January 2019
Happy New Year! I hope that this is a wonderful year for you and your families.
We are continuing to work on new letters in phonics and adding these to build our reading skills.
In math, we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes and we are now working on positional words.
This month also brings us Martin Luther King's birthday. We are talking about his contributions to the world and why we celebrate his birthday.
We have discussed the sacrament of baptism and how Jesus was baptized. We will have a followup activity to learn about our own baptism.
We look forward to Grandparents' day at the end of this week and Catholic Schools Week coming up next week.
It is a fun, busy month!
Blessings to you and your families.

December 2018
Time is flying by as we are now in the season of Advent. The excitement is growing as we prepare for our Christmas program this Wednesday and the birth of Jesus is coming soon.
We are busy working on our 14th letter in phonics. The children are learning how to put the letters together to sound out more and more words.
We are working on 2D shapes in math and will go into 3D shapes soon. They are learning how shapes are all around us in the world.
As the weather changes and the days get shorter, we are learning how different our world is in the different seasons.
As we count down the days until Christmas, each child will use their own Advent calendar to track the progress.
During this wonderful time of the year, we will count our blessings and realize the difference between our wants and needs.
May God continue to bless you and your families now and into the New Year.

October 2018
Wow! How did we get to October?
This is the month of Mary, learning about the Rosary, fire safety and prevention, Columbus "discovering" America, and Halloween. We will be working on community helpers and neighborhoods.
We are working on numbers; counting, writing and comparing them.
We are on our 7th letter in phonics and are learning how to combine them to make words.
I look forward to visiting with you at Parent/Teacher conferences this month. It will give us an opportunity to discuss what your child is learning in kindergarten.
This class is awesome!! How lucky I am to work with them each day.
Blessings,
Karen Pirzadeh
