Welcome to English. It is my absolute joy and pleasure to work with 7th grade students! We will continue our grammar, writing, diagramming, vocabulary, and spelling efforts.
Homework is not assigned until the end of class and is based on students' comprehension of the concepts covered in class. Teacher assigns homework aloud, and students are instructed to write down the homework in their spirals.
Spelling tests are Mondays.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday- grammar days
Thursday- vocab day
Friday- writing day
Seventh grade's yellow English folders are specifically labeled for organizational purposes: English, writing, and Eye Spy. I highly encourage students to keep pending work in the left pocket of the folder and completed or graded work should be moved over to the right pocket.
7th grade's first chapter focus topics: kinds of sentences, complete subject/complete predicate, finding the subject, conjunctions, fragments/run on sentences, simple sentences, compound sentences, complex sentences , and continue diagramming all parts of speech.
Eye Spy paragraphs ( one per week) are due on Fridays.
For over 25 years, I have had the honor and privilege to teach students and most importantly share my faith. Saint Paul School has been my home for numerous years; my own three children all attended Saint Paul from kinder through 8th grade. I feel absolutely blessed that they were able to receive an outstanding education; moreover, I am notably grateful to each faculty member who was part of my "village" in raising my children. What a privilege it is to work in this amazing Catholic community! I hope every student I have taught has taken something positive from my time with them and has used their gifts for His greater glory! Saint Theresa of Calcutta states it best "I can do things you cannot; you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things." In Christ, Denise Ardoin
